DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING FOR INDIE FICTION
I work with fiction writers preparing to self publish or seeking editorial support before querying agents, as well as those who want coaching or accountability to reach their writing and publishing goals.
Services I offer include:
Manuscript Evaluation
A manuscript evaluation is a high-level review that highlights what’s working, what needs attention, and what next steps will move your book forward.
Developmental Edit
A developmental edit focuses on the big picture (plot, characters, pacing, conflict, etc.) offering in-depth feedback to help shape and strengthen your manuscript from the ground up.
Copyedit
A copyedit is a detailed, sentence level edit that corrects spelling, grammar, usage, punctuation, and flow without changing your voice.
Coaching
Designed for authors who want consistent support to stay on track with their writing and revision goals.
ABOUT

MEET HEATHER
A lifelong learner and serial writing workshop attendee, I'm happiest when surrounded by words, stories, and a bit of magic. My favorite corners of the bookshelf are YA and adult fantasy—high fantasy, urban fantasy, romantasy, and magical realism. I have a soft spot for folklore and fairytales, whether centuries old or freshly reimagined, and I especially love seeing writers breathe new life into timeless tales and tropes.
My editorial training comes through the University of Washington, the Editorial Freelancers Association, Club Ed, Freelance Editors Club, and other independent instruction. I’m also an active member of the Northwest Editors Guild.
After more than 18 years as a career Executive Assistant, I’m channeling my love of language into editing and writing—bringing the same care, structure, and curiosity into this creative chapter.
Home for me is the gorgeous Pacific Northwest, where I spend my free time reading, gardening in chaos mode, wrangling my dogs Jax and Rocco, and getting sassed by a steadily growing flock of hens.
